Rail Infrastructure Projects worth Rs 24,000 Crore get Green Signal

Looking to give a big push to the infrastructure sector the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, have approved nine projects in our country worth about Rs 24,000 crore. The projects span around nine states majorly the money will be spent on expansion of railway network and improve connectivity across the country. 

According to a release, the CCEA chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have given a green signal to the large scale line expansion program. This would involve track construction of a total length of 1937.38 km at an estimated cost of Rs 24,374.86 crore.

The nine projects include the 176 km long construction of second railway line from New Bongaigaon to Kamakhya in Assam, 132 km long third line from Kharagpur (West Bengal) to Adityapur (Jharkhand) and 228.3 km long construction of the third line between Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh) and Nagpur (Maharashtra). 

Construction of a third line from Mathura to Jhansi around 273.80 km long, construction of a third line between Jhansi and Bina around 152.57 km long, construction of a third line from Itarsi to Nagpur around 280 km and construction of a third line from Ballarshah to Kazipet around 201.04 km was approved by CCEA. 

Construction of 287.68 km long third line between Vijaywada and Gudur and construction of fourth line between Jharsuguda and Bilaspur of 206 km long was also approved by the CCEA. 

The new approved projects would certainly give a boost to the industries operating in this region. It will also facilitate travel by easing the traffic bottlenecks in addition to meeting the ever increasing demand of transport requirements.
