NTPC, NALCO to enter JV to set up coal-based power project
Indian Public Sector Undertaking, NTPC, and National Aluminium Company (NALCO) will enter into a 50:50 joint venture to build a 2,400 MW (3x800 MW) coal-based power project at Gajmara, Dhenkanal, in the state of Odisha.
The power generated from the plant will meet the increased power requirements of NALCO’s Angul facility, and will also supply power to its greenfield project at Kamakhyanagar, Dhenkanal.
The joint venture power purchase agreement is likely to take place by the end of FY 2017.
The project will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities.
