Chhattisgarh govt to shift location of Bastar's ultra mega steel plant
The government of Chhattisgarh will relocate the site of its proposed Bastar's ultra mega steel plant (UMSP) which was supposed to be constructed in Dilmili village.
The project is likely to be shifted to Bastar's Lohandiguda area where a plot of land is still unoccupied.
The state government, Steel Authority of India (SAIL), and the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) had entered into a JV agreement to set up the plant. The agreement was signed last year in May but the project failed to take off even after a lapse of more than 18 months.
The Dilmili project is part of the four UMSPs planned by the NDA government in the states of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Jharkhand.
The state government is in the process of acquiring about 5,000 acre for the project.
